How does Tourwriter Payments work?
Tourwriter Payments embeds a “Pay now” button directly into your shared itineraries. When you create a payment record in Tourwriter, turn on the payment timeline and share the itinerary (privately or publicly), your traveller sees the Pay now option in the itinerary footer. They click it, enter their card details in a secure checkout, and complete payment instantly. You can choose to enable the Stripe payment portal on some or all of your incoming traveller payments.
What payment methods can my travellers use?
Your travellers can pay using major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, bank transfers, Buy Now Pay Later options, and over 100 region-specific payment methods. This ensures travellers from anywhere in the world can pay using their preferred method.
How long does setup take?
Setup takes just a few minutes. Navigate to Organisation > Integrations in Tourwriter and click Connect in the Stripe section. If you already have a Stripe account, sign in with your existing credentials. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll complete a signup form through Stripe. Once connected, you can immediately start adding payment records to itineraries.
Can travellers pay deposits or only full balances?
Yes, travellers can pay any amount you specify. When creating a payment record in Tourwriter, you enter the amount due — whether that’s a deposit to secure the booking, an instalment, or the full trip balance. You can also create multiple payment records for the same itinerary, though only one unpaid payment can be active at a time.
What currencies are supported?
You can accept payments in over 135 currencies and receive payouts in your preferred currency. Tourwriter Payments handles the conversion automatically, making it simple to serve international travellers without currency complications.

How quickly are payments confirmed?
Payments are confirmed instantly — typically within seconds. Unlike bank transfers that can take 5+ days to clear, card payments process immediately so you can confirm bookings faster and travellers get instant peace of mind.
Is Tourwriter Payments secure?
Yes. Payments are processed through enterprise-grade payment infrastructure with PCI compliance, 3D Secure authentication, and machine-learning fraud protection. Your travellers’ payment information is encrypted and secure throughout the transaction.
How does payment reconciliation work?
Every payment automatically syncs to the corresponding traveller, itinerary, and invoice in Tourwriter. You’ll see exactly which bookings are paid, pending, or overdue without checking bank statements or matching reference numbers manually. If you use our Xero integration, transactions sync there too.
What protection is there against fraud and chargebacks?
Built-in fraud detection uses machine learning to identify and block suspicious transactions, card testing attempts, and fraudulent patterns before they impact your business. This dramatically reduces chargebacks and protects your revenue.
