Quality Assurance Engineer

The Company & The Role

We are looking for a talented Quality Assurance Engineer to sit in either our Wellington or Whitianga office.  He or she will work across our Product and Platform teams, testing a global SaaS travel itinerary platform.

At Tourwriter, it is our Mission to build the most loved and intuitive software for specialist travel experts, delighting and inspiring them to create truly memorable travel experiences for their customers.

Since Tourwriter launched in 2004, we’ve experienced strong growth and are fortunate to have 150 Inbound Tour Operators and Destination Management Companies and 600+ users utilising Tourwriter across 30 countries.

Tourwriter is currently undergoing a period of rapid growth and we’re on the lookout for some exceptional talent to join our team. Our culture thrives on innovation through experimentation, giving people the freedom to explore and seek out alternative solutions to solve real world problems. Tourwriter is no ordinary company, so we don’t expect you to be either. If you love learning new things and enjoy making the impossible happen – we’d like to hear from you.

We build new features on top of a modern stack, consisting of web and mobile front-end apps (React), communicating through APIs to .NET and Node.js services, backed by Postgres databases, all deployed using Docker in a continuous delivery cycle to AWS. You don’t need to have experience in all these specific technologies: we’re great at teaching good developers how to use our modern SaaS stack. We don’t follow rigid Scrum or Kanban, but we do work in an agile, iterative way, deploying changes continuously to production.

  • You have 5+ years commercial application testing experience preferably in a SaaS cloud-based environment.
  • A solid and demonstrable understanding of software QA methodologies, automated testing tools, processes, and testing environments.
  • The ability to read and understand technical specifications to create test plans.
  • Very strong problem-solving ability.
  • Experience with performance and security testing.
  • You have hands on experience using any of the major database platforms; preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience working as a BA, or exposure to working closely with BA’s.
  • A good understanding of backend infrastructure using AWS and Docker (desirable).
  • Possess a hands-on, can-do, and knowledge sharing attitude.
  • A relentless desire to continue learning and self-improvement.
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

What’s In It For You?

  • Wear what you like to work.
  • Frequent team building events.
  • Flexible work location, we have offices in Wellington and Whitianga.
  • Relaxed and friendly team. Nobody takes themselves too seriously.
  • Fantastic career development opportunities.

The team at Tourwriter look forward to meeting you!
